Report of Non-University Activities (RNUA)

**A new disclosure application, START myDisclosures, replaces the paper RNUA form that was previously used. Visit the Contacts & Resources page for additional information about the RNUA submission process.**

Active participation by staff members in external activities that enhance their professional skills or constitute public service can be beneficial to the University as well as to the individual. Because such activities can lead to conflicts of commitment or interest with regard to one's University responsibilities, it is necessary to measure and monitor the non-University activities of staff members.  The University of Illinois Policy on Conflicts of Commitment and Interest (COCI) provides a framework for measuring and monitoring the propriety and advisability of non-University activities of academic staff members.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs is the President's designee for all COCI matters. OVPAA manages the Conflicts of Commitment and Interest disclosure and reporting process for University Administration employees. Academic staff members are required to disclose activities annually via the Report of Non-University Activities (RNUA). It is required that Civil Service employees disclose any activities for which there is a potential conflict.

The annual Report of Non-University Activities (RNUA) is the university process for managing real or perceived conflicts. The RNUA is a process by which academic staff members disclose and obtain prior written approval for non-university income-producing activities or activities that might conflict with an individual’s university responsibilities. The links on the left provide additional information about the RNUA process.
