The University of Illinois Advanced Placement® Summer Institutes
The University of Illinois System’s hosting Advanced Placement (AP®) Summer Institutes is a new initiative designed to increase the number of AP®qualified teachers in Illinois school districts that currently have less than 20% of their students participating in AP® exams.
The University of Illinois System will be launching two Advanced Placement® Summer Institutes (APSI) in 2023 in partnership with the College Board® at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois Springfield. Additional information is available in a printable handout.
The APSI is a College Board® endorsed 30-hour training program for high school teachers. The U of I APSIs are being geared for new AP® teachers or those AP® teachers with minimal training and experience. The U of I APSI will focus on four subjects: English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, U.S. Government and Politics, and U.S. History. Teachers may earn up to 30 hours of Professional Development through the Illinois State Board of Education upon successful completion.
