University of Illinois Transfer Scholarship

A Scholarship Program for Campus Diversity

Description and Eligibility

The University of Illinois Transfer Scholarship is awarded to high-achieving students transferring to the University of Illinois from an Illinois community college. The scholarship is geared towards first generation students and is based on academic performance at the community college. Consideration may be made of demonstrated financial need.

Application and Selection

The University of Illinois Transfer Scholarship is intended to support and encourage high-achieving transfer students to select the University of Illinois for enrollment. Each campus of the University makes independent decisions regarding admissions and awards with applications for the Scholarship made through the regular admissions review process (the application for admission serves as the application for the scholarship). Once admitted, eligible students receive individual review for the award. Those selected for this Scholarship will receive notification.

A student must have 30 transferable graded hours in order to be considered for the award.

Award Amount

Effective beginning with new students entering Fall 2014, the typical award is $5,000 per year, available for a maximum of four semesters (two academic years). Individual award amounts may vary. The scholarship will be paid in two installments, half in the fall term and the remainder in the spring term.

Scholarship Requirements

In order to retain their scholarship, students must maintain continuous full-time enrollment. In addition, students are required to make satisfactory academic progress towards a degree. Additional requirements may be instituted by the campus awarding the scholarship.
